A forklift truck is a very powerful and large machine and hundreds of different parts go into the creation of a truck and its smooth running. Due to the nature of a forklift lift trucks work many forklift parts need to be replaced due to damages and breakages. Fork trucks are very versatile as well in that different accessories can be fitted on to the truck to increase the fork trucks capabilities. Here is a look at a brief glossary of some of the different forklift parts and accessories.
 
Fork Extensions – these forklift parts are for the forks of the truck. The forks can be changed or parts can be added to them so the truck can lift different types of loads such as rollers, baskets, telescopic, and so on.
 
Fork Truck Bearings and Seals – bearings and seals are forklift parts that help the inner workings of the machine to run smoothly and effectively. Bearings help two moving parts of the machine to work together smoothly. Bearings and seals can sometimes break if not fitted properly and so may need to be replaced. If a bearing is the right type of bearing for the machine and is fitted accordingly this forklift part can outlive the life expectancy of the entire machine.
 
Cabs – the cab part of the forklift truck is where the operator sits and controls for the truck. The cab can have a roof or it can be open depending on the fork truck. On a work site this forklift part should have a roof for safety reasons incase of falling materials.
 
Brake Forklift Parts – the brakes on the forklift truck need to be tested regularly to ensure they are in working condition. Occasionally these forklift parts will need to be replaced due to damage.
 
Tyres and Wheels – the wheels and tyres are the most commonly damaged forklift parts due to punctures and slits from uneven and rough floors.
 
Steering Forklift Parts – the steering of the truck is very important and so the steering forklift parts will need to be tested on a daily and weekly basis.
