Fork lift is a truck used to carry heavy materials. Other names used to reference a forklift include a lift truck or fork truck. Typically, the trucks are used in warehouses, airports and factories. The machines can be very dangerous to the person driving them and to people working within the same vicinity if not operated properly. Receiving sufficient training and being mindful of safety hazards is imperative.
Truck operators must participate in a training course that involves classroom instruction as well as practical experience working with the machine. Training involves teaching the student drivers about the purpose of the various controls on the fork lift and how to properly use them. They also learn how to steer the machine while maintaining stability and driving at a safe speed.

The instruction received along with practical experience on the job will help the driver improve his ability to deal with issues that prevent accidents. These issues include possessing complete control of the truck at all times, noticing any maintenance issues, and safely navigating the work area.
