Forktruck Fuel – The Different Kinds
Forktruck Fuel – The Different Kinds
When it comes to
forktruck machines there are three different types of fuel to choose from, petrol or diesel, electric, and propane. There are different advantages and disadvantages to each of the different types. Diesel or petrol forktruck machines put a lot of emissions out into the environment which is not very green. This is also hazardous to close by workers and pedestrians as they will be breathing in the fuel. The good aspect to a diesel or petrol
forktruck is that the engine is reliable and long lived and so many engineers will know how to deal with this type of engine which is good for when it comes to repairs and breakdowns.
Propane forktrucks are similar to diesel and petrol but they are a lot cleaner as they give out cleaner emissions. Even though propane engines do not give out as many emissions they are still not suitable for indoor use. Propane works by changing over the fuel tank, the empty tank can be taken away but the refueling of the tank must be done offsite for safety reasons. Many companies and businesses are not set up with the space and functionality to store large tanks and works out to be more cost effective. A great advantage to this type of forktruck is that they can be used in the rain or snow and they wont cut out which is a problem other forktruck engines have. Propane forktruck engines are the least popular option oppose to gas or electric due to the machine not serving all the customers requirements.
Electric
forktruck engines are the option to go for with indoor use as they do not give off any emissions and so is required for health and safety. Not only are they more environmentally friendly but they are quieter as well. It is recommended to have spare batteries for the machines so that while one is charging the forktruck can still be used.
